The staff at Alexandra Surgery are here to help you. Our Receptionists are trained to deal with your needs. They are your link to the rest of the practice. They have to follow the instructions of the doctors and at the same time satisfy the patients needs, occasionally under difficult circumstances. The more information you give to them the better they will be able to assist you. Information given will always be treated in confidence as they are bound by the same codes of confidentiality as the doctors.
Members of our practice team have specialised roles. When you have a particular enquiry, you may be re-directed to the appropriate person to help you.
Individuals among our team are able to speak various languages.
WE ALSO HAVE LANGUAGE LINE FACILITY - ALL DOCTORS CAN ACCESS A LIVE TRANSLATOR IN OVER 100 LANGUAGES.
Work Experience (Students)
The practice has agreement with local schools or universities to host their students from time to time, for a brief period of experience in a workplace.
Generally, these are students in full time education, aged above 16, and recommended by their teachers. They have volunteered to help out in the surgery (i.e. they are unpaid) to learn about working life, and hear about how the health service is run. Usually only one student attends the practice, for a week at a time.
All the tasks they carry out are under supervision, and at the beginning of their attachment the student must accept and sign a Confidentiality Agreement, just like our regular staff.
The students will also report to their teachers, and often the teachers visit the practice to discuss their progress and behaviour.
